On 09.01. 2005 Mr. Plamen Lazarov held a lecture before the students of our bachelor program, as well as the master students from our Japanese Language and Culture et. The veteran, who has worked for decades for the famous Balkantourist, told us interesting facts about the tourist resources of Bulgaria, which are not only attractive to tourists from the West, but also from the East and Japan in particular, one of them being the hottest natural spring (103℃) in Sapareva Banya, a fact not so widely known.
After dwelling on the history and nature of tourism, Mr. Lazarov made a detailed introduction of the current system of guides, the nature of their job and as well as the market situation in the field of guiding services.
The lecture will also be remembered by Mr. Lazarov`s thoughts and citations like: “If you are in a hurry, go alone, but if you are going far, go together”.
Mr. Lazarov is also the author of the book “Tourism in Sofia” which is certain to be useful to anyone who wishes to try tour-guiding. He has worked in tourism and educating guides since he was a college student.
