On the 25th of March 2022, an award ceremony was held in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in which Gergana Petkova, head of the Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Classics and Modern Languages received the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs’ honorary award. The award is an appreciation of professor Petkova’s contribution to the encouragement of Japanese Studies and to the good relationship between Bulgaria and Japan. In her speech professor Petkova expressed her gratitude towards the Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria, her colleagues and her family. In honour of the award, professor Petkova received congratulations from the president of Sofia University’s Anastas Gerdzhikov Dr Habil, the dean of Faculty of Classics and Modern Languages Madlen Danova Dr Habil and the Department of Japanese Studies.
