Department of Japanese Studies Welcomes a New Member – a Koto Has Arrived!

We are thrilled to inform our friends that a dream has come true – our friends from Fukuyama University kindly presented us a musical instrument Koto!

The official ceremony was held online due to COVID 19 pandemic. Nevertheless, vice-president Fuji, Head of International Affairs Mr. Tsubone, Head of International Center prof. Itami, Instructor at the Koto club prof. Aoki and prof. Iwamoto (a former head of International Center) warm-heartedly greeted all Japanese afficionados at Sofia University. Former exchange students were also present. Kristina Ivanova and Martin Petrov were welcome guests too – both in their capacity of impressive winners of Speech Contests in Japan. The meeting was moderated by Stella Zhivkova PhD.

This October will be a very special one for the members of the Music Club at Japanese Studies. We will accept the kind offer of our Japanese friends and hold online study meetings and mini concerts.

An instrument is not a mere means for sound production.

It is a stimulus, a spark, and a bridge between people.

Thank you, Fukuyama!

With love!
